ABOUT TARA
“You’re looking for someone who actually gets it. Not just clinically.
Human to human.”
That’s the only kind of therapist I know how to be.

REGISTERED NURSE PSYCHOTHERAPY
Hi, I'm Tara.
I’m a Registered Nurse Psychotherapist, a parent of three, and someone who knows what it’s like to carry a lot. Over fifteen years in nursing — across hospitals, mental health, and corrections — taught me that people are never just their symptoms.
My work today sits at the meeting place of nursing and psychotherapy. It’s relational, paced, and rooted in real life. The kind of care I’d want to receive myself.
BEHIND THE SCENES
A few honest, human details.
I'm a runner who isn't fast, a plant lover whose plants don't always survive. I value honesty, humour, and real conversation. I've also been in the thick of FPIES, elimination diets, and the kind of overwhelm that makes you feel completely alone. That experience shaped how I show up here.

“I aim to offer therapy that is both professionally grounded and deeply human.”

WHY BEING A NURSE MATTERS.
The whole person, not just the symptoms.
Nursing trained me to think in systems — the body, the environment, the relationships, the histories that shape a person. That lens stays with me in every session.
When you sit down here, your stress responses, your caregiving, your burnout, your context — none of it gets minimized. You don’t have to translate yourself before we begin.
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Making room for what’s hard while moving toward what matters to you.
Brainspotting
A body-based approach for processing trauma and stuck emotional material below the level of words.
Certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C)
Specialized training for the perinatal and postpartum period — mood, identity, loss, and the realities of new parenthood.
Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
Building a kinder relationship with yourself, especially when self-criticism is running the show.
Gottman Method (Level 1 & 2)
Research-based tools for understanding relationship patterns and building something more secure together.
CLINICAL FOUNDATION
The therapy approaches I actually work within.
I’m intentional about how I practice. The following modalities are the ones I’ve trained in deeply and use in real sessions. I have chosen these because they meet people where the nervous system, the body, and lived experience all live.

WHAT IT'S LIKE TO WORK TOGETHER
Grounded, conversational, gently paced.
You don’t need perfect words to be understood. We move at your pace, focus on what actually helps, and make space for the moments of realization that lead to gradual change.
No rigid intake script — we follow what matters to you
Real, plain conversation, not therapeutic jargon
