What is Nurse Psychotherapy?
Mental health care that honours your whole self
Nurse psychotherapy is mental health care that blends relational depth, clinical skill, and a whole- person lens. It is rooted in the art and science of nursing.

As a Registered Nurse Psychotherapist, I bring together evidence- informed therapy approaches with the holistic, trauma- aware, and person- centred values of nursing. it's not just about diagnosis or symptom reduction. It's about seeing you in your full context, walking alongside you, and supporting your healing in ways that attuned, and meaningful
So... is it any different from other therapy?
Yes and no.
You might not always notice a big difference in how it feels to sit across from a nurse therapist, and that's a good thing. At its core, it's still therapy. Still about connection, curiosity, and change.

But here's what nurse psychotherapy can offer that's a little different

A nursing lens
We look at the full picture-
mental, emotional, physical, relational, development, environmental. No symptom exists in isolation

A focus on safety, not fixing
Nurses are trained to support people through crisis, transition, and vulnerability. I meet you with compassion and steadiness, not judgement or pressure.

Clinical skill, heart- led care
You don't have to choose between someone who "gets it" and someone who is well- trained. Nurse psychotherapists are both
Why work with a nurse psychotherapist?
Here's what I often hear from clients:
-
"You just get it. I don't have to explain everything"
-
"I feel like I can be a mess here and not be judged"
-
"You notice the things I wasn't saying out loud"

Therapy with a nurse feels different because it's designed to meet you where you are... even if that's messy, uncertain, or hard to name.

We're trained in both medical systems and mental health care. We understand the impact of caregiving, illness, birth, trauma, stress, and burnout- not just in theory, but in lived human reality.
The heart of it all?
Therapy is a relationship. It's not about me having the answers. It's about you feeling safe enough to find your own
